Which dimensions are possible?
Before ordering a lounge bed, daybed or lounge sofa, you want to know what is actually possible. Will a wide model fit on your terrace? Can a daybed be made narrower for a compact veranda? With standard furniture, you quickly run into fixed dimensions that do not quite match your space. At Dutch Rivièra, we approach this differently. There are no fixed dimensions to work around, because every piece of furniture is made to suit your space.
Standard sizes don’t exist at Dutch Rivièra
Every garden is different. Every terrace has its own dimensions, angles and proportions. That’s exactly why Dutch Rivièra works exclusively with made-to-measure lounge beds instead of a fixed collection with predetermined dimensions. We tailor the dimensions to your situation.
This applies to the width, depth and height of the piece. But also to the proportions within a configuration, such as the position of a daybed relative to a modular lounge sofa. A lounge island for a beach club has different requirements than a lounge piece on a private roof terrace. Both call for their own approach.
This custom-made principle isn’t a luxury add-on to our range. It’s the core of what we do, and it determines the end result you experience in your outdoor space.
Common dimensions as a starting point
Although custom-made is central, we work from a practical framework. That provides guidance during the consultation and makes it easier to find the right proportion for your space.
For luxury lounge beds, the width is generally between 90 and 220 centimetres and the length between 190 and 230 centimetres. Daybeds are usually made with a width of 100 to 160 centimetres, depending on the desired comfort and available space. Modular lounge sofas are assembled based on the desired configuration, with each element custom-made individually.

These guidelines are a starting point, not a limitation. Deviating sizes are always negotiable and regularly applied in practice, for example for wider two-person lounge beds or more compact variants for a veranda with limited depth.
How dimensions determine the experience
A well-chosen size does more than fit the space. It determines how the piece feels in use and how it looks in relation to its surroundings. A lounge piece that’s too narrow looks meagre, no matter how high-quality the upholstery. A piece that’s too large makes a terrace feel crowded and heavy.
At Dutch Rivièra we look at the proportion between furniture and surroundings. We advise based on the available floor area, the height of surrounding elements and the use you have in mind. A wellness island in a private spa requires different proportions than a lounge piece next to an outdoor pool.

Material choice and its impact on dimensions
Dimensions and materials are closely linked. The choice of a particular frame or upholstery affects what’s structurally possible and how the piece looks in its final form.
Dutch Rivièra works with frames of powder-coated aluminium and stainless steel. Both materials are lightweight and structurally strong. That makes larger spans possible without the frame bending or losing shape. For an XXL lounge piece on a hotel rooftop, that’s a significant advantage.
The upholstery consists of solution-dyed fabrics, Quick Dry Foam and open-structure Dacron. These materials are suited for long-term outdoor use and retain their shape even under changing temperatures and damp conditions, so you’re assured of optimal comfort season after season.
The combination of a strong frame and high-quality cushion material makes it possible to deliver furniture that stays comfortable and holds its shape, even at larger dimensions.
Dimensions for business projects
Hotels, resorts, spas and beach clubs place different demands on dimensions than private customers. The scale is larger, the intensity of use higher, and the requirements for appearance and durability greater. Dutch Rivièra has extensive experience with this type of project.
For a wellness centre, we supply lounge beds and daybeds that fit the architecture of the space. That sometimes means larger formats, sometimes a specific ratio between width and length that matches the layout of the room. We think along about the optimal layout and translate that into concrete dimensions.
For beach clubs, furniture is often arranged in a fixed row. We take into account the walking space between the beds, the distance to the waterline and the operator’s wishes. Custom-made here means: a complete solution that works both functionally and visually.
Lifespan and maintenance for large-scale custom projects
A made-to-measure piece is a long-term investment. Especially for business clients, it’s important to know how long the agreed quality will hold up and what maintenance is required.
Solution-dyed fabrics retain their colour and structure considerably longer than ordinary outdoor fabrics, because the colour is woven into the fibre rather than applied to the surface. That makes the material resistant to intensive use and prolonged exposure to sun and moisture.
Quick Dry Foam and open-structure Dacron dry quickly after rain and don’t allow moisture to build up in the core, giving mould little chance. That way your furniture keeps looking good season after season, without requiring intensive maintenance.
