A lounge bed is primarily designed for lying down at full length. It has a large lying surface, a thick mattress, and offers space for one or two people at once. You’ll find lounge beds by pools, on terraces and in gardens where relaxation is central.<\/span><\/p>\n

A <\/span>daybed<\/span><\/a> leans more towards a combination of lying and sitting. It often has a backrest or a raised headrest, which means it also serves as a lounge sofa or seat. The daybed lends itself to broader use throughout the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

The difference lies in the use: a lounge bed invites you to lie down, a daybed invites you to stay. That nuance is small, but decisive for the choice you make.<\/span><\/p>\n

What do we mean by a daybed?<\/b><\/h2>\n

At Dutch Rivi\u00e8ra, a daybed is a piece of furniture that combines the qualities of a lounge sofa and a lounger. It has a spacious seating surface, one or more cushions as back support, and a mattress that’s also suitable for lying at full length.<\/span><\/p>\n

A daybed often stands freely in the space, like an island of its own. You can sit on it with several people, but also lie on it alone. That makes it particularly suitable for situations where the space needs to serve multiple functions.<\/span><\/p>\n

What makes a lounge bed unique?<\/b><\/h2>\n

A lounge bed has one primary purpose: to offer maximum lying comfort. The lying surface is more spacious than a daybed’s, and the mattress is generally thicker and firmer. Lounge beds are designed for long-term use outdoors.<\/span><\/p>\n

At Dutch Rivi\u00e8ra, lounge beds are made with Quick Dry Foam, a material that dries quickly after rain and doesn’t retain moisture in its core. Combined with open-structure Dacron, this creates a cushion that stays comfortable even in changeable weather. That choice of material isn’t a detail; it determines how long a lounge piece retains its quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

A lounge bed from Dutch Rivi\u00e8ra is available in several models, including the Comfort, Premium and XXL. Each model is adjustable in size, upholstery and colour, so the furniture always matches the space and the style you envision.<\/span><\/p>\n

How does the use differ in practice?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Say you have a garden with a large pool and want to lie next to it all summer afternoon. Then you choose a lounge bed. It offers the space and comfort needed for that.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a veranda or roof terrace where you have coffee in the morning and rest in the afternoon? Then a daybed suits better. The piece adapts to the day and doesn’t need to be rearranged each time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Material and finish: what to pay attention to<\/b><\/h2>\n

Regardless of the type of furniture, the same principle applies: outdoor furniture must withstand the elements. That starts with the choice of material. Dutch Rivi\u00e8ra works exclusively with materials selected for durability and suitability for outdoor use.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the upholstery we use solution-dyed fabrics. The dye is woven into the fibre itself and doesn’t fade from sunlight or rain. You’ll notice that difference after three or four seasons, when an ordinary fabric starts losing its colour while solution-dyed fabric still looks crisp.<\/span><\/p>\n

The frames are made of powder-coated aluminium or stainless steel. Both materials are lightweight, corrosion-resistant and require little maintenance. You choose the frame material that best suits your environment and the level of maintenance you’re willing to do.<\/span><\/p>\n

Custom-made as a starting point<\/b><\/h2>\n

At Dutch Rivi\u00e8ra, every process starts with the question of what you need and what your space looks like. Only then is it decided which type of furniture and which dimensions fit best. That’s the essence of custom-made: not adapting you to the furniture, but adapting the furniture to you.<\/span><\/p>\n
