What do we mean by a daybed?

A daybed often stands freely in the space, like an island of its own. You can sit on it with several people, but also lie on it alone. That makes it particularly suitable for situations where the space needs to serve multiple functions.

What makes a lounge bed unique?

A lounge bed has one primary purpose: to offer maximum lying comfort. The lying surface is more spacious than a daybed’s, and the mattress is generally thicker and firmer. Lounge beds are designed for long-term use outdoors.

At Dutch Rivièra, lounge beds are made with Quick Dry Foam, a material that dries quickly after rain and doesn’t retain moisture in its core. Combined with open-structure Dacron, this creates a cushion that stays comfortable even in changeable weather. That choice of material isn’t a detail; it determines how long a lounge piece retains its quality.

A lounge bed from Dutch Rivièra is available in several models, including the Comfort, Premium and XXL. Each model is adjustable in size, upholstery and colour, so the furniture always matches the space and the style you envision.

How does the use differ in practice?

Say you have a garden with a large pool and want to lie next to it all summer afternoon. Then you choose a lounge bed. It offers the space and comfort needed for that.

Do you have a veranda or roof terrace where you have coffee in the morning and rest in the afternoon? Then a daybed suits better. The piece adapts to the day and doesn’t need to be rearranged each time.

Material and finish: what to pay attention to

Regardless of the type of furniture, the same principle applies: outdoor furniture must withstand the elements. That starts with the choice of material. Dutch Rivièra works exclusively with materials selected for durability and suitability for outdoor use.

For the upholstery we use solution-dyed fabrics. The dye is woven into the fibre itself and doesn’t fade from sunlight or rain. You’ll notice that difference after three or four seasons, when an ordinary fabric starts losing its colour while solution-dyed fabric still looks crisp.

The frames are made of powder-coated aluminium or stainless steel. Both materials are lightweight, corrosion-resistant and require little maintenance. You choose the frame material that best suits your environment and the level of maintenance you’re willing to do.
